The dark and tempting facade of a collection of South Kensington Victorian town houses, in London, conceals and highlights the amazing Blakes Hotel. Recognized worldwide for its design, elegance, service and privacy, it originated the concept of the luxury boutique hotel.
Born in 1978 from the imagination and expertise of Anouska Hempel, the famous and brilliant interior designer, the hotel transports us to eclectic, ethnic and elegant environments which evoke past times of intrigue, mystery and seduction.
The decoration leads us on a journey through India, China, Indonesia and Thailand, on to Egypt and Italy, and ending up in the heart of London. In each space there is a surprise to discover in the accessories, furniture and artifacts collected in travels around the world, and a little more of the magic and mystery to experience.
The rooms are distinct and were designed with a provocative and vibrant spirit, a passion for travel and romance. They are amazing and dramatic compositions with an immaculate attention for detail which combine, ideally, deep and rich tones, diverse textures and subtle contrasts.
The journey continues in the restaurant. The inspiration for the dishes comes from all four corners of the world, offering a fusion of flavors from the East and West presented so they look as good as they taste.
